Our driver picks up at 02.00 pm from hotel. He goes direct to Prambanan temple. It takes 45 minutes driving to the place. The temple is located in the border between Yogyakarta and Klaten regency. After spending around two and half hours in the temple, proceed to have dinner in local restaurant (own your own) before the Ramayana Ballet show starts. The trip to the Ramayana Ballet takes 15 minutes. Ballet Performance begins at 07.30 pm till 09.30. It lasts 2 hours. When the ballet finished, drive you back hotel.

THE PERFORMANCE OF RAMAYANA BALLET HELD AT OPEN AIR THEATRE NEAR PRAMBANAN TEMPLE.

The Ramayana Ballet is a true Spectacular. Set against the backdrop of Prambanan, a troupe of over 200 performers act out the epic Hindu love story of Shinta and Rama before you. In carefully choreographed scenes fire dancers and ballet performers act out the story in traditional Javanese costumes. The ringing chimes of a live gamelan orchestra accompany the act.

The Ramayana Ballet is a two-hour performance. It starts at 7:30 pm and ends at 9:30 pm. If you’re just seeing the ballet, you’ll be picked up by minibus from your hotel around 6 (we’ll confirm this with you later). If you’re visiting Prambanan and then watching the show, you’ll be picked up at 2 pm. Drop off back at your hotel is by 10:30 pm at the latest. The cost of the tour covers tickets and transport.

The Ramayana stories based on Hindu epics adapted to Javanese culture make Ramayana Prambanan a unique dance. More than 200 professional dancers and gamelan musicians participated in this Ramayana Ballet which took place on an open stage with Prambanan Temple as a backdrop. Ramayana Ballet is also based on the bas-relief at Shiva Temple, Prambanan.

The Ramayana’s story is the journey of Rama in rescuing his wife Sita (usually called Sinta) who was kidnapped by the king of Alengka Kingdom, Rahwana. The Ramayana Prambanan Ballet is usually held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the performances on the stage are open only in the dry season, in the rainy season the performances are held on an indoor stage Trimurti.
