KEDUNG KAYANG WATERFALL - CHICKEN CHURCH - BOROBUDUR – MENDUT TEMPLE
Kedung Kayang Waterfall is located in the Pabelan River which originates from Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu. This waterfall, which is located at an altitude of 950 meters above sea level, is located on the border of Magelang Regency and Boyolali Regency. The precise location is between Wonolelo Village, Sawangan District, Magelang Regency, and Klakah Village, Selo District, Boyolali Regency.
In addition, Kedung Kayang is located right in the middle of the Magelang-Boyolali pass and is located in the SSB (Solo-Selo-Borobudur) tourist route area. The location is located just north of the Ketep Pass tourist attraction. Physically, this natural waterfall is 39 meters high with an 80-degree slope. The waterfall flow is quite heavy. The river is quite clear.
The origin of the name Kedung Kayang is said to have been obtained from the masters who live around the waterfall area. They are Empu Panggung, Empu Putut, and Empu Khalik. In ancient times, they often held meetings at that location. They believe that the Pabelan River provides blessings for local residents.
Even though the river flows mostly from Mount Merbabu and Mount Merapi, they and the local people believe that the river will not drain hot lava. The masters and the surrounding community believe that the Kedung Kayang Waterfall is "awaited" by Kyai Gadung Melati and Nyai Widari Welas Asih.
